Abstract

After oral administration of sodium selenite at a rate of 0.04 mg/kg body weight there was no significant effect on PCV, Hb and erythrocitic count with a decrease in the level of SGOT and SGPT during suckling period. Afterwards there was a considerable increase in SGOT after weaning. No delterious effect on serum total free and conjugated bilirubin and no significant effect was seen in serum total protein, calcium, phosphorus and magnesium levels, with an increase in weight gein and wool production. In the second part of zinc, the results showed that, there is a wound healing after treatment with zinc oxide oint 10% and orelly zinc sulphate 30 mg/ead and repletion period of all animals after one month. Good results were reported by orelly administered zinc sulphate than skin topical due to the rapid absorption through mucous cells.
