Abstract Ileo-cecal valve dysfunction is one of the gastrointestinal tract motility disorders,that presents by various manifestations such as right side pelvic pain,low-back pain, nausea, vomiting, indigestion, bloating, bowel disturbances (diarrhea/constipation), headache and dizziness. A total of 122 patients were included in the study and were assigned to the following groups: Group I: Bleeding per rectum patients (53). Group II: Altered bowel habits patients (20). Group III: Abdominal pain or colic patients (21). Group IV: Various presentation patients (28). The patients were subjected to: ? History taking and clinical examination. ?Routine laboratory investigations including complete blood count,liver function test,kidney function test,lipid profile and stool analysis. ? Pelvi-abdominal ultrasound. ? Total colonoscopy. ? Terminal ileal biopsy examination. The results were as follows: • The successful percentage of the ICV cannulation was 36.9% versus failure percentage 63.1%. • No significant relations were found between ICV cannulation and patient`s ages and sex. • Among successful ICV cannulation patients, the percentage of ICV competency was 55.6% versus competent percentage 44.4%. • Regarding ICV competency, we found that there was a significant relation between patient`s ages and ICV competency, while there were no significant relations as regards patients sex and duration of disease. • No significant relations were found between ICV competency and associated diseases nor patient`s presentation. |
