Abstract Cardiac imaging is an important cornerstone in decision-making and management in cardiovascular medicine. Echocardiography and Doppler ultrasonography developed as the main and most commonly used bedside imaging techniques Non-invasive imaging of coronary blood flow by transthoracic Doppler echocardiography is an emerging diagnostic tool to study the left anterior descending . The Transthoracic coronary Doppler ultrasound could provide useful information in the diagnosis of coronary artery disease, follow-up of percutaneous coronary interventions, coronary recanalization in acute myocardial infarction, and coronary microcirculation. Transeospharngeal TEE can be used to evaluate CBF velocity at left main and proximal LAD with limited value for RCA and distal vessel. The combination of highly accurate anatomic assessment and precise functional information is indispensable to tailor the treatment of patients with suspected or known coronary artery disease. Accordingly, the combination of coronary angiography and pressure derived fractional flow reserve in the catheterization laboratory emerges as the only true “all-in-one” approach as it combines anatomy, physiology, and the possibility of “ad hoc” treatment. Tailoring the revascularization according to the functional significance of the stenoses rather than on their mere angiographic appearance may decrease costs and avoid the need for surgical revascularization. |
