المستخلص

This study was performed to investigate the presence ofdopamine receptors and evaluate its physiological significance andcontribution in the function of the smooth muscles of the genitourinarytract.
In order to achieve this aim, this study was carried out on threegroups of animals; the first includes forty eight adult male rats examinedfor the effect of stimulation of dopamine receptors on vas deferens, thesecond includes forty two adult female rats examined for the effect ofstimulation of dopamine receptors on uterus and the third groupincludes forty eight adult male and female rats examined for the effect ofstimulation of dopamine receptors on urinary bladder.
Each group is divided into three subgroups, the first is examinedfor the effect of stimulation of dopamine receptors by dopamine ( nonspecific dopamine receptors agonist), the second is examined for theeffect of stimulation of dopamine receptors by Fenoldopam (specificDl receptor agonist) and the third is examined for the effect ofstimulation of dopamine receptors by Quinpirole (specific D2 receptoragonist).
It was found that Dopamine ( non specific agonist), Fenoldopam(specific D l receptor agonist) and Quinpirole (specific D2 receptoragonist) had no effect on the basal tone of rather the vas deferens, uterus or urinary bladder.
In isolated vas deferens, Dopamine was found to potentiate in aconcentration- dependent manner the Ach induced contraction ofisolated vas deferens from rats. Moreover, Fenoldopam. in. a dose of 10-Mimi organ bath fluid and Quinpirole in a dose of 10-8 Mimiorgan bath fluid (specific stimulants of Dl and D2 receptorsrespectively) had the same effect of potentiation of the contractionof isolated vas deferens induced by Ach
