Abstract

The aim of the work is to detect recent cases with schistosomiasis
infection among children by measuring low avid IgG.
Schistosomiasis is one of the most important health problems in our
country. This work was concerned with differentiation between recent
and chronic schistosomal infection by detection of low avidity IgG by
ELISA technique.
60 Egyptian school children were included in this study; 20 of them
were recently infected with Schistosoma mansoni, other 20 cases were
chronically infected with S. mansoni and 20 children were parasite free
(control).
All cases were subjected to:
• Full history.
• Clinical examination.
• Routine Investigations:
Liver function tests.
Complete blood count.
