Abstract

The present thesis deals with evaluation of the subsurface geology and the gas potentialities of Port Fouad Marine Field of late Miocene Wakar Formation that encountered in nine exploratory and development wells, distributed in the North East offshore part of the Nile Delta area, Egypt. A comprehensive analytical formation evaluation program has been applied on the available well logs utilizing the ELAN plus petrophysics software. This is to identify the lithological constituents, petrophysical and fluid saturation parameters. The gas potentialities of the studied formation have been evaluated through integration of the litho-stratigraphic characteristics, structure and the well logging deduced petrophysical and saturation parameters. A sort of correlation has been established between the well logging deduced petrophysical parameters and those determined from the analysis of some core samples. The net results of this study are construction of “Lease maps” for Wakar sandstone levels, to be a guide for the future exploration and production plans. The Recommendations can be summarized into: 1. Drilling new wells is recommended in southeast study area. 2. Make drill stem test to “Level S-0A” and “Level S-0B” for future drilled wells in south east area which show good net pay zone from petrophysical study. 3. Drilling new wells is recommended also in central north of the study area. 4. Increase seismic data and resolution to make accurate identify of sand bodies to avoid drill wells outside sand channels like PFM-2 or in the margin of sand channels like PFM-4.
