Abstract
Summary
Nosocomial infection is the infection acquired in hospital within 72 hours of admission .
The majority of these infections are of moderate clinical importance but may cause distressing morbidity ,lengthen hospital stay and increase costs they are one of the major problems all over the world .
The aim of this study is to determine the magnitude of the problem of nosocomial infection in Chest unit ,Pediatric Department ,Zagazig university hospital ,we aimed also identify the source of infection and the predisposing factors ,so as to reach recommendation to reduce the rate of nosocomial infection .A total of samples were taken for culture from patients who were admitted to the unit ,and swabs taken from environment and staff ,these samples were transported to Microbiology Laboratories at the Microbiology and Immunology Department ,Faculty of Medicine ,Zagazig University
