Abstract This-study was carried out at psychiatry department Zagazig University Hospital. The aim of this study was to demonstrate any relationship between relapse of schizophrenic patients and some biological and psychosocial factors. The study consists of two main parts: (I) The theoretical part where, an extensive review of literature was carried out and, it was divided into 4 chapters. 1,[ chapter reviewed definition, diagnosis, types, etiology of schizophrenia and outcome of schizophrenia. 2nd chapter was assigned to discus, role of immunity in schizophrenia with proper care of cytokines especially IL-2 and its role in schizophrenia. 3fd chapter focused on stressful life events and precipitation of schizophrenia. Finally, the last chapter delt with the psychosocial factors and their role in relapse, we have discussed in detailes development. the concept of Expressed Emotion and how to measure. Different opinions and criticism of this term were mentioned. (II) The practical part: One hundred schizophrenic patients were recruited for this study. They have been divided equally into two groups, the first 50 as the relapsed group and the other 50 as non-relapsed group. They were selected randomly from patients admitted to psychiatry department in Zagazig university Hospital and those attending out patient clinic.
