Abstract
The work in this thesis is divided into two parts: 1-The first part: Enamenones in organic synthesis: A novel synthesis of pyridones, benzothiazolo[1,2-a]pyrimidines, pyrido[1,2-a]pyrimidines and 1,8-naphthyridin-2-ol. In the present work, we report results of our study aimed at exploring reactivity of enaminones toward β-ketoamides. The work enabled development of easy and efficient route to penta substituted pyridones, benzothiazolo[1,2-a]pyrimidines and pyrido[1,2-a]pyrimidin-4-one. 2- The second part: Utility of nitriles in organic synthesis: Synthesis of poly functionally substituted pyridones, isoqninoline, and pyrimidone derivatives. Structure of the newly synthesized compounds was elucidated on the basis of their elemental analysis and spectral data as well as chemical methods.
