Abstract

The study area is located between lat. 33° 50̀ 11” and 34° 05̀ 42” E, and long. 28° 27 36 and 28° 38 00”N and covers about 490 km2. it is occupied by seven rock units beside two groups of dykes. These rock units are arranged from old to young as: qz-diorite, qz-monzonite, monzogranite, old dykes, Rutig volcanics, syenite and quartz syenite, Katherine volcanics, Katherine granites, young dykes. The studied quartz diorite, quartz monzonite and monzogranite exhibit I-type granites, calc-alkaline metaluminous magmas that were emplaced in volcanic-arc tectonic environment. The syenite and quartz syenite and Katherine granites are considered as A-type granite that derived from alkaline mildly peraluminous magma and crystallized at within-plate tectonic regime. The constructed spectrometric contour maps indicates the presence of NW-SE and WNW-ESE high radioactive trending at El Rusis zone and presence of NW-SE high radioactive trending in Um Alawi zone. The total radioactivity of these anomalous zones is mainly attributed to the presence of uranium and thorium bearing minerals. The calculated averages of 40K %, eU, eTh, Ra confirm the concept of increasing of those elements with differentiation. The mineralization at El Rusis and Um Alawi zones is include uranium minerals, platinum, nickel, Niobium, Tantalum, yttrium, chromium, cobalt, vanadium, copper bearing minerals.
