Abstract

In the present study was study the effect of detergents (organic phosphorus) on higher plants this by: 1. Germination The effect of graded levels (0-1.5% for sesame, flax and chickpea, and 0-8% for maize) of detergents (OMo and Persil) on seed germination was studied.Germination of the studied seeds was adversely affected by detergents and Omo, in general, exerted a stronger toxic effect than Persil.Grains of maize were the most tolerant to detergent stress among the studied species, followed by sesame and flax whereas chickpea was the most susceptible species. 2. Impact of detergent The effect of detergent (Persil) on growth and mineral nutrition of two species (maize and flax) was studied . Maize is by far more tolerant to detergent stress than flax . 3.Degradation of detergent by bacteria 4. Incubated detergent as a source of P P, in the form of incubated detergent, in low doses showed a beneficial effect on plant growth and was even superior to KH2PO4 as a source of P for maize and flax; but at high doses the toxic effect became evident
