Abstract

This study was carried out during 2006, 2007 and 2008 seasons to study the effect of using different levels of apple compost and orange compost as complementary sources to mineral nitrogen fertilizer (ammonium sulphate 20.5%). The experiment was applied in a private vineyard (Chycheny vineyard) at Menut Samanod village near Mansoura city in Dakahlia governorate. The vines were 4-year-old and cultivated at 2.5x3 meters apart under drip irrigated system, as well as the vine were trained as bilateral cordon system. 81nearly vines uniform, healthy and equal number of buds was left per vine (50 bud) were selected with 3 replication, each 3 vines to represent each treatments under study according to randomized complete blocks design. This study aims to use organic waste sources from industrial process that recycled them into compost. It received as nitrogen fertilizer in complementary form to mineral nitrogen (Ammonium sulphat) achieving for recommended of nitrogen units in King Ruby with clay soil. The interaction between mineral and organic nitrogen led to reduce pollution in the environment, soil and berries of grapes, as well as, reduce the production coasts and improvement condition of the soil returning on the growth vigor of vines, conscionably on the yield. This investigation suggest that replacing 50 - 75 % of mineral nitrogen requirements for King Ruby grapevines by organic nitrogen in a clay soil is indispensable for improvement of the nutritional status of the vines and production of maximum yield and quality of grapes. In addition, organic manures are of a great value to decrease the concentration of both nitrate and nitrite in berries and also decrease the environmental pollution which could our by excessive chemical fertilization alone. The best organic fertilizer in this investigation was orange wastes compost and apple wastes compost in most.
