Abstract a.) The work in this thesis is focused on the preparation of some of thiosemicarbazone derivatives with Ag(I), Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) individually and in combination with Ag+. The characterization was employing elemental, thermal analysis and spectroscopic (UV-Vis, IR, 1H NMR and ESR). In case of diacetylmonoxime thiosemicarbazone (H2L) It acts as neutral, mono basic and dibasic. The second ligand piperanol thiosemicarbazone (HL`) It acts as neutral and mono basic. The thermal analysis for prepared complexes showed that hetero bi metallic complexes more stable than homo metallic complexes. Different geometries were suggested for the prepared complexes based on the data evaluated from spectral and magnetic measurements: square planar, Square based pyramid and octahedral. Good information about the geometry and the degree of covalency of the metal-ligand bonds for Cu(II) complexes was elucidated using ESR spectra. The antimicrobial activity for the ligand and some of its metal complexes is discussed. |
