Abstract

The chemical composition include moisture ash, protein, carbohydrate, fat and also detection of the active substances such as, alkaloid, resins, cardenoloides, flavonoids and tannins were identified in peel, rind and juice of pomegranate. The antioxidant activity of peel, rind and juice hydro-alcoholic extract showed significant decrease in peroxide value , malondealdhyde , p -anisidine and carbonyl value at 7 , 14 , 21 , and 28 day of storage day of storage but rind and juice extract showed DPPH at 1000, 500 , 250 , 200 , 100 µg in comparing with BHT.
The glipiside , peel , rind and juice of pomegranate diabetic rat groups showed significant increase in weight gain ,weight gain percent, food intake and HDLc value but showed significant decrease in glucose, VLDLc , and triglyceride at 7 , 14 , 21 and 28 of the experemental period ; cholesterol , LDLc and atherogenic indices(Cholesterol/HDLc ) at 14 , 21 and 28 day of the experemental period and HDLc at 7 day of the experemental period in compared with non treated diabetic rat group. The ulcer rat groups which treated with peel and rind extracts or juice showed significant increase in weight gain, weight gain percent, FER, GST, catalase and significant decrease in NO and MDA compared with non treated rat group. The hepatic injury rat group which treated with silymarin , peel and rind extracts and juice of pomegranate fruit showed significant decrease in final weight, weight gain, weight gain percent, FER, GST, catalase and relative weight of kidney and showed significant increase in GPT, GOT, NO, MDA, weight and relative weight of liver and relative weight of stomach compared with control group but showed significant decrease in GOT, GPT, albumin, bilirubin ,NO, MDA compared with non treated rat group
Diabetic rat group which treated with glipiside and peel hydro-alcoholic extract showed no changes in pancreas while ulcer rat groups which treated with peel and rind hydro-alcoholic extracts and juice no showed no changes in stomach but in silymarin , peel and rind hydro-alcoholic extracts and juice of pomegranate fruit showed somewhat moderate hepatic injury.
The rind extract showed to be the most effective one than either Peel and Juice for Staphylococcus aureus, B. Brucella abortus, C. Listeria monocytogenus , and D. Salmonella typhi. Brucella abortus was the most sensitive bacteria giving the highest destructive values of the tested samples. Staph. aureus can in the second order then Salmonella typhi while Listeria monocytogenus showed to be the most resistant bacteria towards the tested samples.
