Abstract
108 cases of malignant lymphomas were collected from the Pathology Department, Mansoura Faculty of medicine, through the years 1980, 1981 and 1982. TtrLssiudy includes the indCjenre of Hodgkin’s and nonHodgkin’s lymphomas, together with their gross and microscopic pictures and their imnlunol~gical characters. It also compares the results obtained with those found in recent litratures. In this thesis, malignant lYmphomas constitute 13.3% of all malignant tumours that occur in the same period, Hodgkin’s lymphoma represent about 49 % while non-Hodgk1n’s lymphomas form 51 % of the whole material. The cases of Hodgkin’s lymphomas were classified according to the Rye classification, (Lukes et alet 1966), while non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas were classified according to Lukes and Collins classification(~ukes and Collins 1975 , Lukes et al., 1978 and Lukes 1979). It was found that Hodgkin’s lymphomas predominated in young age , they were of the bad prognostic types(mixed cellularity and lymphocyte depletion). they were of late stages.
