Abstract
Photosensitive dermatoses are one of most common diseases in our countryq as a result of the subtropical climate where sun is prevalent almost allover the year. Photosensitive dermatoses may result from sun exposure alone or from combination of sun exposure and topically applied or systemically adminstrated chemical agent . In addition body capable of generating endogen- oua photosensitizers, such as porphyrins 9 that can react with incident solar radiation to produce pathologic chan- ges in thei,skin . Actinic lichen planust polymorphous light erup- tion and xeroderma pigmentosum, are photosensitive der- they share in, several factors which are implicated in their pathogenesis and still the exact aetiology are unrevealed. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the possible role of porphyrins in some photosensitive der- matoses . In the present work 31 patients with selected photosensitive dermatoses;actinic lichen planus , polymorphoUs light eruption and xeroderma pigmentosum.
