Abstract 1) The aim of the present study is to search for vali¬dity of P-wave changes in assessing atrial enlargements and pulmonary hypertension, in cases with isolated mitral stenosis, through correlating them awith the significant clinical, radiologic and echocardiographic parameters in this respect. 2) The material of this study comprised 29 patients with isolated mitral stenosis as test group who were selec¬ted on clinical, radiologic and echocardiographic basis, as well as eleven healthy subjects as control group. 3) All cases were subjected to thorough history taking, clinical examination and investigations comprising complete blood picture, erythrocyte sedementation rate (ESR), electro¬cardiography, chest rdentgenography (plain x-ray P.A view and left lateral position with barium ,swallow), and echo¬cardiography. 3) Clinical assessment of case severity on basis of symptoms and signs was as mild, moderate and severe subgroups comprising 10 patients, 7 patients and 12 patients respecti¬vely. 5) Electrocardiographic assessment of left atrial enlargement (LAE) was based on the presence of one or more |
