Abstract

First experiment:-
Two field experiments were carried out during the two seasons of 2006 and 2007 a private farm near El-mansoura, Dakahlia Governorate, Egypt. It aimed to study the effect of hot water, ascorbic acid, calcium, salicylic acid, spermine and heat treatment on cvs California wonder during storage period at 6°C and ambient temperature
Second experiment:-
Two field experiments were carried out during the two seasons of 2007and 2008 a private farm near El-mansoura, Dakahlia Governorate, Egypt. It aimed to study the effect of hydro distilluated essential oils, of mint, caraway and garlic applied to tubers of Spunta cvs ( planting in clay soil ) and on their morphological and biochemical behaviour during long term storage at ambient temperature.
Finally, it could be recommended with immersion pepper fruits of cvs California wonder (planting in clay soil) in spermine at 2mM or salicylic acid 2mM for storage period 30 days in 6°C were considerably lower chilling injury and prolonged storage period. Also from the results mentioned previously, it could be concluded that dipping potato tubers (cvs spunta planting in clay soil ) in garlic oil 6ml/l and salicylic acid 1000 ppm two times during storage period (6 months) as efficient natural, safety and cost effective technique for storing potato tubers for processing and fresh consumption.
