Abstract The aim of the present work involve the use of water hyacinth plants as effective extractor of many dyes and dye products from industrial effluents as well as domestic waste water disposed to natural waters at normal pH,s. The type of dyes used in this investigation could be divided into two main groups under the effect of photochemical reaction: First; degradable dyes such as Methylene blue which is photochemically degraded during investigations. Second; non degradable dyes such as:-Methyl Orange, Alizarin Red S, Rhodamine B.: It is not our intention study the ability of water hyacinth to uptake many metal ions of concern on our environment. In this study we have declared its distinct capabilities in removing several metal ions and distribution of metal ion in whole plant between the aerial parts (stem plus leaves ) and roots either as living plants or non-living biomass (Dry form which is further subdivided into aerial parts and the second part including its roots) . Applications of the plant in removing some organic pollutants such as fertilizers (urea and ammonium nitrate) industrial waste. |
