Abstract

This study was carried out at the Rabbit Farm of the Agriculture and Research Center, Faculty of Agriculture, Mansoura University at the period from July to September 1995 for the first experiment and from June to August 1996 for the second one. The products (dried tops of pea, cauliflower and broad bean) and level (0, 10, 20 and 30%) of their inclusion in the diet instead of clover hay as well as their interaction on growth performance, feed intake and conversion, nutrient digestibility, some carcass traits and meat quality traits. In addition, the effects of freezing storage for 3 months at -18°C on the chemical and physical properties of rabbits meat were also studied. In the second experiment, the effects of replacement of clover hay in rabbits diets by azolla at inclusion rate of either 10, 20 or 30% on the same studied traits of the first experiment were also investigated.

Rabbits fed broad bean by-product in the diet had significantly (P < 0.05 or P< 0.01) the lighter live body
