Abstract Some morphological factors that might play a role in the process of urine concentration were studied in both sexes of a non-desert rat, Rattus rattus and a desert mammal, the gerbil, Gerbillus gerbillus. Correlating the morphologic findings with the physiological characteristics was given special reference as for possible. The results may be summarized in the following : 1.In all experimental groups the average body weight of rats was significantly heavier than that of gerbils. 2. Rat kidneys were longer, wider and thicker than gerbil kidneys for both considred sexxes. |
