Abstract
The studies reported in this thesis provide a contribution to our understanding of the monogenean parasite fauna of Clarias gariepinus. Since gyrodactylids are potential pathogens in fish farms, the knowledge gained by these studies may be valuable in any attempt to raise these fishes on a commercial basis for food.
