Abstract The present study was undertaken to evalute the feeding value and quality of the prepared pelleted mixtures containing different levels of ground rice hulls (43 %. 50 % and 70 %) in mixture M , M2 high quality clever hay and m3 respectively, to represent (or medium concentrate) , medium quality clover hay and wheat straw respectively. M4,a modified co- operative concentrate feed mixture, was used for supplementing M 2 and M3 mixture. The study included twenty six !Dale growing (% Merinox % Ossimi) lambs, approximattley 6 months of age and weighing an average of 31.13 kg. In addition, two mature Rahmany rams of about 2 years of age, wi. th an average weight of 48 . 25 kg were also used in the study . The animals were divided into f our groups as follows twentey four lambs were divided randomly into three equal groups according to body ’I:elight t the 8 animals of each group were then divided into two replicates according to body weight (4 animals in each) . The other two lambs together with the 2 mature ones represented the two replicates of the fourth group which received M3 only (70 % R. H) to study the effect of prologend feeding on such low energy feed mixtudes . One group out t he three ones of growing lambs, was chosen to receive .M ( 43 % RH) periods (each period 6 weeks). The other two groups of lambs were distributed at random to receive either 112 (50 % R.B) or M3 (70 % RH) ad lib. together with 500 g per had/day of M4 during period 1, then 300 g/day during period 2 and t hen 150 g/I day in period 3. |
