Abstract An aluminium-zinc alloy of eutectoid composition (59.4% at zn) has been prepared. The alloy was transformed isothermally into non-ferrous pearlite at a range of temperatures between 200 - 260c for different periods of time. The specimens were prepared for metallographic examinations. For each transformation temperature, the growth rate of perlite was determined by the maximum nodule radius method, from a plot of the maximum nodule radius against time. |
