Abstract

Sugerbeet is considered one of the major sugar crops all over the world and especially in Egypt. Sugerbeet produce 40% of the world sugar production. It is cultivated in an area equal to 7.4 hectar. In Egypt sugerbeet is cultivated in an area equal to 128,600 fed/year.
The Egyptian government encourage increasing sugerbeet area in the new reclaimed lands, as well as increasing the production/fed in the old lands in delta, which are characterized by the small holdings. Mechanization was found to be a must for sugerbeet growing especially precise planting which will lead to an increase in sugerbeet yield and quality.
The present work was concerned with utilization of a developed power unit to suit sugar beet production, and satisfy the principal of machinery intensification. This can be achieved if a fitting of ridgers and planting units, fixed on a chassis are added to the power tiller ’’used as a source of power + secondary seed bed preparation’’.
In this work, a scientific approach was followed in order to develop the combined planting machine this approach consisted of the following stages :
1- The power tiller was selected to be used as a source of power (power unit) and for secondary seed bed preparation.
2- Design of the developed machine main chassis and the required components, such as the ridgers, the ground wheel fixing aids, hitch points for the planting units and diver seat arrangement.
