Abstract This study was conducted to evaluate the pre- and post-treatment changes of the dental, skeletal and soft tissue structures in Class II division 1 borderline cases treated with the extraction of the maxillary first premolars and with non-extraction by distalization using Pendulum appliance. The sample of twenty female patients was divided into two groups:- Group (A) the non extraction group: - was consisted of ten female patients and was treated by distalization using the Penduluum appliance. Group (B) the extraction group: - was consisted of ten female patients and was treated with the extraction of the maxillary first premolars. It was concluded that: 1-Class II division 1 was effectively treated. 2- The distalization of the maxillary first molars had been achieved with significant tipping and extrusive movement leading to increase in the lower facial height, with the decrease in the over bite . 3- There was loss of anchorage during distalization . |
