Abstract The aim of this work is to synthesize a novel oxazolone and imidazolone derivatives with expected biological activity and evaluating their performance as antioxidant and anticorrosive additives for local lubricating oil. Thus, (Z)-4-((5–oxo-2-phenyloxazol-4(5H)–ylidene)methyl)phenyl-4-methylbenzenesulfonate, was used as the starting material for the synthesis of a series of products bearing both aryl sulfonate, oxazolone and imidazolone moieties. Also, we evaluate the prepared compounds as antioxidant and corrosion inhibitors for the tested lubricant oil. The results obtained illustrated that, the prepared compounds showed good oxidation resistance and high corrosion inhibitions for the tested lubricanting oil. Also, the prepared compounds were subjected to thermal analysis. The results indicated that, these antioxidant compounds were thermally stable and could be used under different thermal conditions. The bactericidal and fungicidal activity of the synthesized products were evaluated and compared with reference antibiotic drugs. The obtained results revealed that, some of the tested products show comparable activity and in some cases are much more active against the used bacterial and fungal strains than all the used reference drugs. |
