Abstract

In the present study, an intensive survey was carried out during two successive years 2007 and 2008 at (El-Mansoura, Talkha, El-Sinbilawein, Aga, Rashid, Shbin El-Kom and El-Fayoum) in soils under different crops, manure, stored products and house dust . Data proved the occurrence of 65 species belonging to 34 genera in 16 families of four suborders. Studing the relationship between fungivorous mites and fungi. The two mites Uroobovella krantzi and Oppia sticta were chosen to study their ability to transmit the plant pathogenic soil fungi. Results showed that mite species U. krantzi were not able to transmit the tested fungi neither through their faeces nor through their body surface. A biological study were carried to investigate the effect of different diets on the biological potential of the most dominant fungivorous mite in soil, Uroobovella krantzi. Results indicated that the type of tested fungi did not significantly affect the life cycle. But it had very highly significant effects on their longevity and fecundity. Biological control: This part aimed to investigate the ability of uropodid mite Uroobovella krantzi to control tomato wilt disease. Results indicated that using 100, 150 and 200 mite individuals gave 100% healthy tomato through the two weeks of study.
