Abstract Interventional cross sectional study conducted among 4th year medical Mansoura students to identify the main chronic health problems and to study relation between QOL and risks of developing these problems. The total sample of the studied students was 500 students, (48 % males & 52 % females). In our study we found that, most of students consumed fast food , snacks Added extra salt to food staff , drink soda, tea and coffee twice or more per day. Also half of students never practice daily physical exercise. Regarding smoking and abuse, 12.5 % of male students were smokers 1.3 %were bango users. Regarding QOL, there was poor overall QOL among medical students .As regard the relation between QOL and chronic health problems and risky behaviors , general health was the only domain that was affected by hypertension. Role limitation due to physical, poor vitality and poor general health were more among obese students. Abnormal physical functioning, emotional wellbeing and social functioning were more significant among smokers. Violent exposed students had significant abnormal scores regarding limitation due to physical problems, role limitation due emotional problems and emotional wellbeing. As regard direct effect of life skill intervention, there were highly significant improvements as regards snacks intake, fast food consumption and added extra salt to the food. There were also highly significant positive changes regarding the practice of physical exercises . regarding student’s QOL, there were significant and persistent improvements regarding physical function, role limitation due to physical problems, vitality and general health. |
