Abstract
The present study was carried out to evaluate the efficacy of cefotaxime and marbofloxacin separately and in combination on experimentally infected chickens with E.coli O78 with regarding to their effect on clinical signs, mortality rate, body weight, weight gain, feed consumption, feed conversion rate, post mortem changes, hematological changes as well as the effect on liver and kidney functions. Summing up our observations, it could be concluded from the present study that administration of therapeutic dose of cefotaxime with marbofloxacin combination in medication of Escherichia Coli infected chickens has a superior activity than using cefotaxime or marbofloxacin alone.. Care must be taken when used the combination of cefotaxime with marbofloxacin therapeutically in poultry farms because of their reversible adverse effects on serum biochemical parameters which return to normal parameters two weeks post treatment.
