Abstract Hypercholesterolemia and diabetes mellitus represent the major public health disease affecting different body organs. Both metabolic diseases affected drastically the mother during pregnancy as well as retarded the differentiation of different body organs and shared in development of different pattern of congenital abnormalitiesPhytotherapy is frequently are used throughout the world for a range of diabetic presentations and considered to be less toxic and free from side effects than synthetic drugs. Therefore, investigations of such medicines have become particularly important. Morus alba (Mulberry tree) of the family Moraceae has been widely cultivated in countries worldwide from temperate to tropical areas. The following findings are summarized as follows: 1. SDS-PAGE phytochemistry of leaves , bark and fruits of Morus alba. 2. Biochemical analysis of FBG, TCl, TG, HDL, LDL, CK of serum of hypercholesterolemic an diabetic groups as well as post-treatment. 3. Histological Observations of Maternal liver, heart, pancreas & aorta of mothers and their offspring. 4. Effects on pregnant mothers and their newborn. 5. Ocular region: Incidence and histomorphology of cataract, histogenesis of retina at light and ultrastructure & assessment of DNA damage and apoptosis. |
