Soybean is one of the important oil crops in the Egyptian agriculture. it is an important source for oil and protein, their percentage are about 22% and 40% from sead weight respectively, in addition soybean cacke that results from oil extraction can be used in poultry feeding. The reasons which lead to this study can be summarized as follows : the Egyptian imports are about 47000 and 34000 tons from soybean oil and cacke respectively during the period (1978-1981). In addition, decrease the international demand on the long fiber cotton lead to decrease the Egyptian exports of row cotton from 5322 tons during the period (1971-1975) to about 3011 tons during the period (1976-1980). On the other hand, the cultivation area of cotton in A.R.E. decreased by about 14% during the second period than the first period. At the same time, the demand on plant oil was increased as a result from increasing population and the individual income, because of the high nutrition value of both oil which can be alternative of oil cotton seeds and protein which can be alternative to animal protein, it was important to increase soybean production. This study aims to investigate the variables of the efficiency of using the agriculture production source in the production of soybean, and the ability to detect the efficiency for the production and marketing of this crop, in addition to increase the cultivated area. This study consists of six chapters : the first belongs to research problem, the second obtained the theoretical framework of the research, the third discussed the economics of soybean production, the fourth discussed the economic efficiency of soybean in A.R.E., and the sixth chapter discussed the foreign trade of soybean and its product.
