Abstract The quantitative solid-state synthesis of the 6-methoxy-2-(p-nitrobenzlidene)-1-tetralone 2, was achieved by ball milling an equimolar ratio of 6-methoxy-1-tetralone 1, p-nitrobenzaldehyde and potassium hydroxide pellets. stoichiometric runs by milling of 6-methoxy-2-(p-nitrobenzlidene)-1-tetralone 2 with 2-aminobrnzimidazole affored 3 with 100% yied without the aid of basic catalysts and solvents. |
