Being conscious of the importance of the family and the necessity of its unit for facing the many problems, Law no. 10 of 2004 has decided to establish family courts with offices of family disputes settlements. The idea of establishing the court based on settling between the married couple for saving the family in general and children in specific. Law articles and procedures stress on serious and practical steps for a settlement process between the married couple, make sure that the wife and children get their alimony rights when separation takes place. This study is considered as a research attempt to study the nature of the relation between the family and the family court in Egypt and to emphasize on the social role of these courts for the family. The study aims at emphasizing on the most important social, economic, and cultural factors that lead to family disputes, trying to solve them, recognizing development phases of Personal Status laws in Egypt, and extracting the most important social indicators related to the family and its stability. This study aims at recognizing the role of the family court in solving family disputes in a friendly way throughout presenting the most important roles and the goals of family disputes settlements offices, identifying to what extent these goals are achieved as required. The current study tries to achieve a kind of methodological flexibility so it used both the descriptive and historical approaches. Concerning data collecting tools, the study has many tools including analyses, statistics, official documents, depending on expanded questionnaires applied on specialists working in settlement offices and the case study guide applied on some of who are frequent to the family court and in-depth interviews with directors of family disputes settlement offices.
