Abstract

Two field experiments, were conducted in a private farm at El-Salhiea City; Sharkia Governorate during two winter seasons of 2006-2007 and 2007-2008 to investigate the effect of different rates and doses of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium on wheat plant (triticum aestvum L.). 90 treatments were arranged in a split-split block design with three replicates; which were the simple possible combination between five treatments of N-fertilization, with 2 different application (2 and 4 doses), three levels of P-addition and three rates of K-applied. The obtained results could be summarized as follows: 1- Effect of nitrogen rate and splitting, phosphorus and potassium rates on chlorophyll, plant height and spike length during the two seasons of 2007/2008 and 2008/2009. The addition of nitrogen fertilizer in 4 doses gave the significant and highest values of chlorophyll plant height and spike length compared to adding nitrogen fertilizer in 2 doses for both seasons. Increasing the addition of nitrogen fertilizer from 20 to 120 kg N fed-1 resulted in a positive and significant increases in the measurements of all parameter in wheat plant. 2. Effect of nitrogen rate and splitting, phosphorus and potassium rate on No. of grains/spike and 1000 grains weight. The best addition for nitrogen fertilizer was in 4 doses compared with 2 doses in both seasons. Splitting nitrogen level into 4 doses significantly increased No. of grains/spike and 1000 grain weight were obtained due to the different treatments in both seasons. The best values were resulted with the use of 120 kg N fed-1+ 40 kg P2O5 fed-1+ 10 kg K2O fed-1 in 2 or 4 doses of nitrogen fertilizer for both seasons. 3. Effect of nitrogen rate and splitting, phosphorus and potassium rate on the grain and straw yield. Significant differences between the values of grain yield and straw yield due to applying different rates of mineral fertilizers were found, the highest value was observed with the rates of 120 kg N fed-1+ 40 kg P2O5 fed-1+ 10 kg K2O fed-1. 4. Effect of nitrogen rate and splitting, phosphorus and potassium rates on N, P and K% in wheat plant at boating and in straw and grain at harvest stage The concentration of nitrogen significantly increases in wheat plant at boating stage with increasing the rates of mineral fertilization for both seasons. The highest values for the concentration of nitrogen at boating stage were observed with 120 kg N fed-1+ 40 kg P2O5 fed-1+ 10 kg K2O fed-1 with splitting N fertilizer to 2 doses, but splitting N fertilizer to 4 doses gave the higher values at rate of 150 Kg N fed-1+ 40 kg P2O5 fed-1+ 10 kg K2O fed-1 for both seasons. Recommendation: It can recommend to fertilizer wheat plant grown on EL-Salhia soils and similar soils (sandy clay loam) to add 120 kg N fed-1 divided into four doses 40, 20, 20 and 20% and applied at 2, 4, 6 and 8 weeks from sowing respectively, beside 40 kg P2O5 fed-1 and 10 K2O kg fed-1. This rates for N, P and K produced the best values, for example, spike length, 1000 grains weight, grains and straw yield. Also it gave the highest percentages for nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium in wheat grains and straw.
