Abstract Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic disease with inflammation of joints as a major manifestation. It is unfortunate that the name of the disease concentrated on its articular features although it was found both clinically and pathologically that the condition is systemic from the onset, so the designation”Rheumatoid disease” would be more accurate .Since RA is a systemic disease, involvement of the upper gastrointestinal tract (UGT) might be expected. Although serious complications of vasculitis in the UGT like ulcers, gangrene, and perforation may occur, these are very rare manifestations of systemic disease. |
