Abstract
The late results and to assess This work was planned to find out following excision of the radial head,the clinical significance of these results.The total number of cases in this work is 43 cases, every case under study was sbjected to thorough clinical and radiological examination.The age of the patients ranged between 19 and 50 years.There were 33 ma 1es and 10 females. In 20 cases, the right elbow was the site of operation, and in 23 cases the left one was affect’ed.In 25 cases, direct trauma to the elbow was the cause of fracture radial head, and in 12 cases indirect trauma was the cause.In 25 cases, early excision of the radial head were performed , and in 18 cases late excision of the radial head,i.e. the time lapsed before excision of the radial head was more than ten days, were performed.The period lapsed from operation to follow up ranged between one to eight years.ASYmptomatic elbow was found in fifteen patients and asymptomatic wrist was found in twenty four patients, the other symptomatic cases complained mainly of pain,crepitation, weakness or limitation of movement.Cubitus valgus was found in 24 cases, ranged between 5 to 30 degrees.
