Abstract In this thesis arthrosonography was studied in some articular disorders of the hip and the knee joint.16 cases of hip disorders were examined, of whom 10 cases of dislocation, 5 cases of subluxation and one case of septic arthritis.34 cases of knee disorders were examined of them 14 cases of rheumatoid arthritis, 12 cases of rheumatic arthritis, 6 cases of joint pain with no definite swelling, one case of septic arthritis and one case of hemophilic hemarthroses. For all cases of the hip and knee disorders the following were done :-1- Proper history taking.2- Thorough clinical examination.3- Radiological assessment.- Plain X-ray A-P, lateral view and frog leg position.- Ultrasound examination of the hip and the knee Arthrosonography of the hip was found to be of high sensitivity in detecting DDH (86.7%). In two hips of the examined 15 cases hips we found extreme difficulty in visualisation of the femoral head, this represent one case with bilateral hip dislocation aged 6 years. |
