Abstract The study of pulmonary venous flow is a new field of investigation.(6) The unique imaging window of transesophageal echocardiography through a retrocardiac vantage allows Doppler interrogation of the posteriorly located pulmonary veins in the immediate vicinity of the transducer.(l7) By transthoracic echocardiography, pulmonary veins are posterior and distant structures with a low velocity. The normal pulmonary venous flow pattern and its alteration in some cardiac diseases have been descirbed. |
