Abstract

Dursban-4 is an organoposphorous insecticide, which is still used by Egyptian ministry of agriculture in controlling the cotton leave-worm. As a resulte of using this insecticide, traces of it were-and still- diffusing to the canals and channels of the Nile river. These traces are in small concentrations but may be harmful to fish. A lot of researchs which had been done on Dursban was about, acute exposure (lethal dose) to foreign countries fish, determination of its toxicity and the effect of lethal dose and there are a few researchs on chronic exposure. So, it is suitable to do this research to be aware of the physiological effects of Dursban on juvenile catfish -C-l-a-r-i-a-s -l-a-z-e-r-a (6 month age> which exposed to very small concentrations for 25 weeks, Fish were brought from controlled artificial fish pond (Barsek-,Eeheira Governorate]. weighed 24 + 5 - grams and their lengths 16.5 -+ 2.5 cm.
