Abstract The propagation of the hot plasma produced i n a shock wave device was studied. The hot plasma w a s derived i n the shock tube which contains a Helium gas under very low pressure. The measurements were c a r r i e d out mainly using 8 mm. microwave interferometer which confirmed by Rogwiski c o i l and photomultiplier techniques. Both, s t a t i c and dynamic breakdown dischuge, and the shock wave battery current were investigated to determine the best operating conditions of our device during investigations. We have investigated t h e times of propagations of the hot plasma i n our shock wave tube (both of the c l u s t e r of hot electrons and of the shock wave f r o n t ) and i t w a s found that these times increase by the increasing of the value of the i n i t i a l gas pressure inside the shock tube. |
