Abstract
The presnet work was carried out during the period from (1985 - 1988). The main objective of this investigation was to determine heterosis, inbreeding depression, G.C.A., S.C.A., different types of gene action, heritability and relationships for yield and some other characters in rapeseed (Brassica napus L. ) . The material used included four cultivars; Altex, Regent, Tower and christa. In 1985/1986 season six diallel crosses were made between the four parents to generate F 1 ’s. In 1986/1987 hybrid seed was planted, part of the F1 planted was crossed to parents to produce the backcross and the other was selfed to produce the F seed. In 1987/1988 season , 2 the parents and their crosses were evaluated in two experiments using randomized complete block design with three replication at Sakha Agricultural Research Station. The data were recorded on the following characters; yield/plant, 1000-seed weight, number of.primary branches, number of days to flowering, plant height, stem diameter and oil percentage. The data were analyzed using Griffiny’s procedure (1956), method 2 model I to estimate general and specific combining ability. Also genetic analysis to study types of gene action in the six populations were computed according to Gamble’s method (1962).
