Abstract The present study was designed to obtain highly citric acid producing isolates of Candida Li~olvtica via induced mutants and protoplast fusion techniques. The obtained results be summarized as follows: Ten different C. lipolvtica strains were collected from either the national or international microbiology labs. Determination of their citric acid productivity was carried out. The strain C. li~olvtica y - 1095 proved to be the highest producing one, therefore it was used in the following studies as the wild type original strain. Using UV light as a physical mutagen with different exposure times followed by incubation at visible light or in dark for two hours gave the following resutls: The survival percentages decreased gradually as the exposure time increased. Incubation in visible light showed higher survival percentages than in dark as a photo-reactivation repairing. Higher morphological variations were noticed in visible light incubated portion than those obtained following dark incubation. Delayed prototrophs isolates have occurred following dark incubation with percentages higher’than those. |
