Abstract
In 1375 - 1976 eeaaon seven flax line$ were sown and twenty one hybrid8 and theiz reciprocals were made. Whereas in ;I576 - I577 mason twenty one hybrids and their reciproccls were sown. Idoreover in 1577 - I478 two flax lines were sprayed with(ki.bberel1i.c acid at flowel bud stage. Seven parental lines, Flts F2’s f o r six hybrids were sown during the game een@on. Results obtained aould be summarized as followes: I- The data indfczted that the seven parental lines showed variable degrees of differences in eleven characters namely; peraent of pollen abortion, percent of pollen inviability, percent of pollen fnma$uri&y, percent of capsule formation, seed number* per capeule, ozpcule number per plant, seed nunbey per plmnt, total f i b e r percentage, long fiber peraentage* long fiber finenosr and ash percentage in long fiber, 2- The data suggested that although pollen grain abortion 6;eeiaed t o be genic in nature, the belo* average of A%@ heritability wggested that the en*ironment and oytoplasrn greatly influence those ehara&tess.
