Abstract
In r e c e n t years t h e r e has been c o n s i d e r a b l e i n t e r e s t i n t h e development of p l a n t p r o t e c t i o n programmes t h a t a s s u r e a more compatible u s e of chemical and biological.methods of c o n t r o l . More example of p o t e n t i a l n a t u r a l e x t r a c t s a s ins e c t i c i d e s a r e discussed i n r e c e n t review. I d e a l l y t h e s e newt y p e s of p e s t c o n t r o l a g e n t s should be a c t i v e a g a i n s t l i m i t e d nmber of s p e c i e s i n c l u d i n g t a r g e t organisns. Such a g e n t s can be used i n i n t e g r a t e d c o n t r o l progranmes. Therefore , t h e p r e s e n t work was d i r e c t e d t o s e a r c h f o r soine b i o l o g i c a l l y a c t i v e e x t r a c t s i n c e r t a i n wild p l a n t s , v o l a t i l e o i l s and i n s e c t i c i d e s and t h e i r s i d e effects on chrysopa predator a s n a t u r a l enmy. Results could be summarized a s follows:- F i e l d Experiments: 1- E f f e c t of c h e n i c a l t r e a tme n t s on -A. ~ossypii: Two f i e l d experiments were c a r r i e d out t o test 12 conv e n t i o n a l i n s e c t i c i d e s a g a i n s t c o t t o n aphids. There were s i g n i f i c a n t d i f f e r e n c e s between a l l chenical t r e a t m e n t s and c o n t r o l check except S t a r o i l . A l l t r e a t m e n t s gave e x c e l l e n t c o n t r o l t o c o t t o n a p h i d s (A-. qossypii) , 2 d a y s a f t e r a p p l i c - ation and were still e f f e c t i v e 14 days a f t e r t h e i r s p r a y i n g . It seems t h a t Deltanet and Marchal were p e r s i s t a n t than o t h e r t r e a t m e n t s . The . d i f f e r e n c e i n e f f i c i e n c y between t h e s e two i n s e c t i c i d e s and Nuvacron was s l i g h t . Pirimor a t t h e trate of 300 gn / feddan , P i r i m i c i d , Ekalux , and Ekatin appeared noderate e f f i c i e n c y a g a i n s t aphids u n t i l 5 days a f t e r a p p l i - cation . Marchal was considered t h e most e f f e c t i v e one , when t h e s e coinpounds were conpared on t h e b a s i c of t h e m o u n t s of a c t i v e ingrednets. 2- The s i d e - e f f e c t of ch~qicalt r e a tme n t s on t h e p r e d a t o r -C. c a rne a : The general t r e n d of t h e r e s u l t s showed t h a t t h e r e were s i g n i f i c a n t d i f f e r e n c e s between a l l examined t r e a t m e n t s and t h e u n t r e a t e d check. chrysopa p r e d a t o r was s e v e r e l y a f f e c t e d 2 days a f t e r a p p l i c a t i o n except t h e t r e a t m e n t with Misrol and S t a r o i l . Almost conplete e r a d i c a t i o n of -C. c a r n e a was o c c u r e d i n a l l p l o t s which were t r e a t e d with Deltanet , P i r i m i c i d , Ekalux , i-larchal and Ekatin compounds. Deltanet , p i r i m i c i d , Ekalux , I-larchal and Ekztin gave t h e h i g h e s t p e r c e n t a g e of red u c t i o n (100% t o 90%) 2 days a f t e r a p p l i c a t i o n and were c o n t i n - ued a s t h e highest t r e a t i n e n t s u n t i l 14 days a f t e r a p p l i c a t i o n . The o t h e r treatinents arranged descendingly a s follow: Nuvacron Pirimor Dicofol Kelthane Helthane/Swnothion Aphox. I n general , t h e t r e n d of r e s u l t s i n 1988 was t h e sane i n 1989 with s l i g h t v a r i a t i o n i n t h e percentage of r e d u c t i o n o f each t r e a t m e n t.
