Abstract
The present investigation deals with the synthesis of some azo-heterocyclic dyes containing a pyrazolone rnoeity. The pyrazolone compounds were prepared by the reaction of ethyl benzoyl acetate with aryl hydrazone derivatives in acetic acid medium. The l-aryl-4-arylazo-3-phenyl-2-pyrazolin-5- were prepared by the reaction of the pyrazolone derivatives with several aryl diazoniurn chlorides in basic medium. Also twenty four complexes of transition metals such as Cr(III), Co(II),Ni(II)and Cu(1I)with 4-arylazo-l,3-diphenyl-2-pyrazolin- 5-one derivatives have been prepared in two stoichiometric . . ratios of 1:l and 1:2 (M:L). The structural assignment of the prepared azo dyes and metal complex compounds were inferred from extensive studies of ultra-violet and infrared, spectral analysis, besides their correct elemental analysis. The new prepared azo dyes and metal complex dyes were used as disperse and acid dyes and were applied on differerrt fibres such as 100% polyester,100% wool and polyester/ wool blend. The fastness properties such as light,washing, perspiration,rubbing and sublimation fastness were investigated and most of these dyes gave good results.
