Abstract A review of literature was represented on previous studies of the trace element calcium, phosphorus, zinc and copper. This work aimed to study the relationship between the concentration of trace elements in umbilical cord plasma, erythrocytes and it relation to gestational age, birth weight, head circumlerence and height of foetus.Fourty females with uncomplicated pregnancy were selected during their normal vaginal delivery having single babies and also ten females having twins.A detailed medical and obstetrical history was taken, any case with history of anaemia, pre-eclampsia, diabetes mellitus or any diseases of pregnancy or associated with pregnancy were excluded.Gestational age was calculated according to the first day of last menstrual period, clinical examination and confirmed by the weight, head circumference and length of foetus after delivery.
