Abstract
In the first part of the present study, 12 chemical compounds belonging to different groups of insecticides were bioassayed for their mutagenic activity using two microbial assays; Salmonella taster strains (Ames-et-al., 1971) and the regulation test using the yeast. Schizosacharomyces pombe ad-D 2 strain (Adames ~ ..et al. t 1981). The second part of this investigation aims to judge how much the histopathological changes appeared in the mid-gut epithelia of Spodoptera littoralis would contribute to study the mutagenic activity of these insecticides.
