Abstract
’The exposed composite stratigraphic section includes U. Cenomanian , Turonian , Senoniarl , M & U Eocene , Oligocene and Quatet-nar?. rocks whereas subsurface stsatigraphic section includes Basement . I’alcozoic. Jurassic , L. Csetaceous and L. Cenomanian . The stsricture of’ I Abu Rawash asea is complex \\.it11 li.ctl~c~it folding and faulting . ’The faults dissect different rock mits of’ ciiff’esent ages . They ase classified into three categories , nor~nal . revcsse. and wrench faults . Both surface and subsurface data indicate . that flowel- structure are exist in the study asea these stl-uctuses ase comrnonl\. associated with wsench faulting . The study areajs also chasactesized by heterogeneous f’old styles wid1 different dil-ec~io~. ~l’hs c folds ase plunging anticlines and synclines oriented in a NE di~.ectior~ cxccpt l.ell El Mabsuta folds which plunge to the WNW .The tse~iding folds ase matching with Syrian Arc system of folds . FIQI~th e ailyhoto lineations studies , the total numbes of the airphoto lineations in the study area appsoximate 640 assu~ning aboi~t 175. GO5 k~nin length . These lineations are niainly dominated by \\’\\\.. F-.K E .
