Abstract

This i n v e s t i g a t i o n w a s aimed t o study some chemical q u a l i t i e s of l o c a l d r i e d baby foods which packed in c a r t o n packages (Riry, Riry Milk, Superamine and Vitamano) compared with the imported foods (Bledine first b o t t l e feed, Bledine five c e r e a l s , Bledine w i t h banana, CereLac, Complan and Parlene), These chemical q u a l i t i e s were a l s o compared with Egyp-tian Standard and a l s o these foods were n u t r i t i o n a l l y evaluated from t h e view point o f t h e n u t r i t i o n a l requirements of babies, The samples were obtrined from the l o c a l mrket and analysed f o r moisture, f a t , crude p r o t e i n , carbohyd r a t e s , ash, calcium, iron, phosphorus, potassium, sodium and indispensable amino a c i d s , The e f f e c t of s t o r a g e at room temperature f o r six months on some chemical and microbiological prop e r t i e s as well as presence i n s e c t s were i n v e s t i g a t e d , The i n vitro d i g e s t i b i l i t y f o r these foods was estimated during t h e storage period.
